Situated just 35 minutes south of Edmonton, Wetaskiwin is a picturesque community that offers something for everyone with museums, beautiful parks, outstanding recreational facilities, historical sites, golf courses, fine dining, and shopping.

Wetaskiwin is proud to have several museums in our community including the world-class Reynolds-Alberta Museum, Canada’s Aviation Hall of Fame, Wetaskiwin and District Heritage Museum and the Central Alberta Railway Museum.

There are year-round events that include an annual festival, biennial air shows, rodeos, farmers’ markets, and a variety of sporting events that all make Wetaskiwin an ideal place to live and visit.

Wetaskiwin has taken great measures to ensure the past is not forgotten. Take a stroll down historic main street where you will see thirteen restored, turn-of-the-century buildings.

Our County offers a variety of cultural and recreational opportunities that will appeal to enthusiasts of every kind. We are delighted to provide a glimpse of the numerous amenities that our beautiful County has to offer.

Located on the Highway 2 corridor, just 20 minutes south of Edmonton, the County of Wetaskiwin stretches from Bittern Lake on the east boundary to Alder Flats in the west. Home to over 10,457 residents, the County of Wetaskiwin spans a rural area of over 2,112 square miles.

Break away from the everyday and enjoy a country drive where you will travel through the rolling countryside and enjoy the picturesque country setting which boasts a bountiful farming community. Shopping and recreational facilities can be found in many of our eight rural hamlets. Throughout the area you will find quaint country and antique shops, a private spa, accommodations for overnight stays, horseback riding, stream fishing, rafting and camping, and an ice cream treat at any time of the year. In the winter the area offers many outdoor activities such as cross country and downhill skiing, ice fishing, skating, tobogganing, and curling.
